Nos dias 28 e 30 de novembro e 01 de dezembro, das 9h às 12h, será oferecido o Minicurso Beyond Methodology: The Ethical Relation of Encounter, pela Profª. Drª. Lori Amy (Georgia Southern University). In Beyond Methodology: The Ethical Relation of Encounter, Dr. Lori Amy brings us with her on her journey working in Albania, first with former political prisoners and families persecuted under Albania’s totalitarian dictatorship, and then through seven years of working with civil society to prevent an illegal development plan from destroying an important cultural heritage site in the historic center of Albania’s capital city. As a trauma theorist, she began this work grounded in psychoanalytic understandings of bearing witness and contemporary movements for transitional justice and truth and reconciliation. Entering the world of international nongovernmental work and civil society activism plunged her, in decisively personal and non-academic ways, into the inter-related webs of power, money, violence, and “development.” This short-course will explore what it means to work at this intersection of academia and activism. The course is itself an encounter of ethical relation, where we will embody the practices of bearing witness as the foundation of healing-in-relation and the possibility of individual and cultural transformation.
