A Coordenação de Graduação está realizando dois Cursos-Cápsulas nos dias 5, 6 e 7 de setembro de 2018. Ambos os cursos serão destinados aos alunos e alunas de graduação do IRI. O número de vagas é limitados há a necessidade de inscrição prévia para participar (entrar em contato com a Coordenação).
As aulas serão ministradas em inglês e não haverá tradução simultânea. O local de realização dos cursos serão divulgados após a realização da inscrição.
Curso 2: Visual Global Security – 15 às 17h

How is (in-)security enacted through online visual communication and how might it, therefore, be politically contested/resisted? We will draw examples from images pertaining to humanitarianism. We will discuss core social theoretical texts examining how culture, technology, society, and media intersect in complex and often troubling ways. The aim is to open space for thinking about the Politics of Visual Security entailed. More specifically each section focuses on one image genre (user-generated, marketing, and memorializing images) and one way of thinking about images produce security (mediation of suffering, affective visual economies, and temporalizations). In class, we will work with exercises the theoretical approaches and images. We do so by looking at images pertaining specifically to (in-)security in Rio de Janeiro.
